Redemption welcomes the return of the Multi-Profession Experience to Star Wars Galaxies. When players start their journey, they can choose from any combination of one or more of the six basic professions that branch into more than twenty advanced professions. Players gain experience points specific to each profession by completing relevant activities, such as unarmed combat or crafting, which can be spent to advance their skills along the profession expertise trees.
Alongside the multi-profession system comes the integration of new and exciting abilities that match the lore of each class, such as the new Mounted Shot ability which enables the previously disallowed ability to fire weapons while riding a mount. Other improvements include an ability to set player bounties on any player, at any time, without restraint.
As the companion to classic full-squad Heroics, Intrepids are new instanced story-driven content intended for groups of two to four players. Featuring a series of gated levels and challenges driven by advancing difficulty, players will face new and thrilling obstacles along with a demonizing final boss while earning exciting rewards.
Redemption reintroduces important life-cycle mechanics to wearables and weapons which help bolster the economy and add value to the artisan line professions. Decay is a newly active enemy to players who will need to repair or replace their armor and weapons after extensive use or risk losing their effectiveness. Additionally, damage categories of blast, stun, and lightsaber have been reintroduced and both armor and weapons have more elements and resistances at play. Armor layers have also been reworked and expanded upon to give players more meaningful armor customization options.
